FACIAL ESTHETIC PRACTITIONER
Dr. Mia Pham Sanchez de Lozada was born in Vietnam. At the age of nine, she and her brother fled the country to escape communism. After a year in a refugee camp in the Philippines, they eventually made their way to the United States, where they were taken in by foster parents.
Dr. Mia went on to study biomedical engineering on a full academic scholarship, graduating Magna Cum Laude. She was part of the founding class of the School of Engineering at Virginia Commonwealth University and became the first undergraduate to earn a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering in the state of Virginia — before then, the program had been offered only at the master’s and doctoral level. She then worked her way through dental school, also graduating Magna Cum Laude. After graduating from the Medical College of Virginia, she moved to Annandale and, in 2006, purchased her own dental practice — Smiles by Mia. Today, she is the only general dentist in Northern Virginia to offer dentistry and facial esthetics together under one roof.
As a dentist, Dr. Mia believes she is not simply treating teeth, but caring for the face as a whole. She takes great pride in being a small business owner and is grateful for the opportunity to help her patients achieve their best smile while enhancing their overall facial esthetics.

A dedicated dental assistant since 2019, Hanane brings warmth, precision, and a calm presence to every patient visit — supporting advanced procedures, patient comfort, and efficient clinical care.
Known for her strong work ethic, attention to detail, and compassionate approach, she helps create an environment where patients feel relaxed, respected, and cared for. Her ability to anticipate needs makes her an essential part of the practice.
Outside the office, Hanane enjoys quality time with her husband, Issa, and their two boys.

Danella Ruiz
Danella joined Smiles by Mia in 2021, training under Dr. Mia and growing into a role that spans both patient care and front-office coordination — a warm, professional presence from arrival to checkout.
Committed to professional growth, she has earned multiple certifications in advanced dental laser techniques, supporting the focus on modern dentistry and patient comfort.
Outside the office, Danella enjoys baking and time with her husband, Anas, and their cat, Cairo.
