Laser-assisted root canal treatment at Smiles by Mia

Featured Treatment

Laser Root Canals

A root canal treats infection or inflammation inside a tooth and helps save it from extraction. Laser-assisted treatment can improve disinfection in hard-to-reach areas and supports a more conservative, efficient process — eliminating bacteria, relieving pain, and preserving your natural tooth.

  • Treats infection while preserving the natural tooth
  • Can reduce pain and prevent infection from spreading
  • Laser-assisted cleaning improves disinfection
  • Often followed by a dental crown for long-term protection

Is it painful?

Most patients are surprised by how comfortable modern root canal treatment can be — with local anesthesia and laser technology, the experience is often similar to a standard filling.

Signs you may need one

Persistent pain, lingering hot/cold sensitivity, gum swelling, tenderness when biting, or discoloration — an exam and X-rays confirm the right path.

Will I need a crown after?

In many cases, yes — especially back teeth that handle chewing pressure. A crown restores strength and protects the structure.

Long-term

With proper care and a final restoration, many treated teeth last for many years.

Laser Periodontal Therapy

Laser Gum
Disease Treatment

Laser gum disease treatment is a gentle, minimally invasive way to address periodontal (gum) disease. Using precise laser energy, Dr. Mia removes inflamed, infected tissue from around the tooth and reduces the bacteria that drive the disease — often with less bleeding, no scalpels or sutures, and faster healing than traditional gum surgery.

  • Removes diseased tissue and targets harmful bacteria
  • No scalpel, no sutures, and minimal bleeding
  • Preserves healthy tissue while encouraging gums to reattach
  • Works alongside deep cleaning (scaling and root planing)

How it works

The laser accesses and removes inflamed tissue around the tooth root, then tartar and plaque below the gumline are cleared and the root is smoothed so bacteria cannot easily re-adhere.

Why laser?

The laser distinguishes diseased tissue and treats it precisely, sparing healthy areas — which means less discomfort, reduced bleeding, and accelerated healing.

Signs of gum disease

Red, swollen, or bleeding gums, persistent bad breath, gum recession, or loose teeth. An exam and pocket measurements confirm the stage.

Healing

Gums need time to heal and tighten back around the tooth; most patients return to normal activity quickly.
Laser cavity disinfection at Smiles by Mia

Cleaner, Healthier Fillings

Laser Cavity Disinfection

When treating a cavity, laser energy is used to disinfect the prepared tooth before the filling is placed — killing residual bacteria deep in the tooth structure that traditional methods miss. This supports a cleaner foundation, helps protect the tooth, and improves the bond between the filling material and the tooth — making for a stronger, longer-lasting filling.

  • Targets and reduces bacteria in the prepared tooth
  • Supports a cleaner, healthier foundation for fillings
  • Improves bonding of the filling material to the tooth
  • Makes for a stronger, longer-lasting filling

Why it matters

Bacteria left behind in a cavity preparation can compromise a filling. Laser disinfection helps eliminate them and improves how well the filling bonds to the tooth — for a stronger, longer-lasting result.

Is it uncomfortable?

No — it is a quick, gentle step performed alongside your filling, typically with the same numbing already in place.

Paired with fillings

Disinfection is part of a comfort-first, technology-driven approach to restoring teeth affected by decay.

Natural-looking result

Your final tooth-colored filling blends seamlessly while resting on a cleaner foundation.

Reshape & Refine

Laser Gum Contouring

Laser gum contouring gently reshapes an uneven or “gummy” gumline to reveal more of your natural tooth and create a balanced, symmetrical smile. The laser sculpts excess tissue precisely while sealing as it works — meaning minimal bleeding, little to no downtime, and beautifully even results.

  • Corrects a gummy smile or uneven gumline
  • Precise sculpting with minimal bleeding and fast healing
  • Often completed in a single comfortable visit
  • Pairs beautifully with veneers and smile makeovers

Who it helps

Patients whose teeth look short or whose gumline is uneven or asymmetric — contouring brings balance and proportion to the smile.

Is it permanent?

Reshaped gum tissue generally stays put; your results are designed to be long-lasting.

Comfort

The laser seals as it sculpts, so the procedure is comfortable with minimal bleeding and a quick recovery.

Part of a makeover

Gum contouring is often combined with veneers or whitening for a complete smile transformation.

Renew

Dentures

Dentures replace missing teeth and restore function, facial support, and confidence — as partials, full dentures, or implant-supported dentures for added stability. We take time to refine fit and support you through the adjustment.

Using our in-office SprintRay 3D printer, we can design and print both full dentures and implant-supported dentures right here in our practice. That means a more precise fit, faster turnaround, and easy, accurate reprints if a denture is ever lost or damaged — without long waits on an outside lab.

  • Partial, full, and implant-supported options
  • Full and implant-supported dentures 3D-printed in our office
  • Restores smile appearance and facial support
  • Personalized to comfort, anatomy, and goals

Eating solid foods

Most patients adjust within three to four weeks — starting soft and progressing as comfort improves.

Full vs. partial

Partials preserve remaining natural teeth; full dentures replace an entire arch. The right choice depends on your dental health.

Care

Soak in solution, brush gently with non-abrasive cleaner, and store overnight in soaking solution.

Made in our office

With our SprintRay 3D printer, we design and print full and implant-supported dentures in-house — for a precise fit, faster turnaround, and quick, accurate reprints if one is ever lost or damaged.

Comfort

A well-made denture should feel balanced, look natural, and get easier to live with over time.

Rebuild

Dental Implants

An implant replaces the root of a missing tooth and supports a custom restoration above it. Anchored in the jawbone, implants offer excellent stability, can help preserve bone, and look and feel natural when properly restored.

  • Strong, stable support for missing teeth
  • Supports single teeth, bridges, or full arches
  • May help preserve jawbone over time

Healing time

Generally three to six months while the implant fuses with the jawbone (osseointegration), then the final restoration is attached.

Candidacy

Healthy gums and adequate bone density matter most — an evaluation confirms whether implants fit your case.

Natural feel

Because the implant is anchored like a root, the result supports confident chewing and speech.

Versatile

From a single tooth to stabilizing a full-arch restoration.
Oral cancer screening at Smiles by Mia

  • Includes advanced VELscope technology
  • Important even without obvious risk factors

What happens

Non-smokers too?

Yes — alcohol use, HPV, sun exposure, and genetics are also risk factors, and early signs can appear in anyone.

How often
