Electric Brush versus Manual Brushes
There have been multiple studies comparing the effectiveness of manual brushes and electric brushes. A review of those studies concluded that when used for three months, electric toothbrushes removed plaque 11% more effectively than manual toothbrushes. They also reduced gingivitis by 6% over manual toothbrushes. This represented a 17% reduction in bleeding of the gums.
There are many different types of electric toothbrushes out there in the market. Dr. Pham Sanchez de Lozada recommends the Rotadent Plus. The Rotadent® Plus uses proprietary MicroAccess filament brush tips to reach below the gum line and between teeth for unsurpassed cleaning action. It also comes with a lifetime warranty.
